Mikveh for Mental Health and Healing

Join us for an interactive webinar to learn more about how mikveh can be a tool for mental health and healing. Participate in an experiential, online ritual with Rabbi Miriam Berger from the Mikveh Project UK, gain a deeper understanding of the connection between Jewish ritual and psychology with Dr. Stuart Linke, and explore creative resources for supporting mental health with Jocelyn Schorvitz from the Metro Atlanta Community Mikvah (MACoM).

Presenter Bios

Miriam Berger is the Rabbi of Finchley Reform Synagogue in London, UK where she has been for more than 13 years. Her pastoral care and involvement in the lives of her community have led her to spearhead “The Mikveh Project UK”, a charity which aims to create a centre of well being with the ritual of Mikveh at its heart.

Stuart Linke is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust and Associate Research Fellow in the E – health unit. He is the head of the Complex Depression, Anxiety and Trauma Service and his clinical interests include cognitive behavior therapy, mindfulness, adult mental health and clinical risk management. He has also published on religion and psychology. He is a National Assessor for Clinical Psychology. He is also a member of Finchley Reform Synagogue and the London Ruach Chavurah.

Jocelyn Schorvitz joined MACoM in June of 2019. Originally from New Jersey, she is proud to have called Atlanta home for the past 20 years. She brings many years of experience from working in Atlanta’s Jewish community. Most recently Jocelyn worked at Atlanta Jewish Academy, starting off as Community Relations Coordinator and then serving as the Operations and Facility Director. Jocelyn has previously worked on mikvah development and educational projects and is very passionate about supporting MACoM’s mikvah initiatives.

The Blue Dove Foundation was created to help address the issues of mental illness and substance abuse in the Jewish community and beyond. Based in Atlanta, they work with people and organizations across the United States and around the world.
