Mikveh To Go: Designing an In-Home or Outdoor Immersion Experience

May 13, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

When immersing in a free-standing mikveh is not an option, what are the alternatives? How can you create a meaningful immersion experience at home or in a natural body of water? Join us to learn about the Jewish legal thinking behind the use of a bathtub or shower in extenuating circumstances and as we explore ways to enhance the immersion ritual, including:

  • Kavanah – intention
  • Environment — setting, lighting, music
  • Timing
  • Preparation
  • Role of a witness / support person
  • Resources

This webinar will be led by Lisa Berman, Mikveh and Education Director at Mayyim Hayyim. She will be joined by Naomi Malka, director of the Adas Israel Community Mikvah in Washington, DC and Leah Bieler, a writer and teacher, with an M.A. in Talmud who writes about Israel, Judaism, parenting and relationships, and how to navigate with ancient values in an ever-changing modern world.
